At the 125th reenactment of Gettysburg, we Texans got to the line of battle for Pickett's Charge a little late and were at the wrong end of the line. So we did something that didn't happen there originally, but must certainly have happened someplace, and in the spirit of the grand but futile Infantry charge we were about to reenact. Our commander had our fifes and drums strike up The Yellow Rose of Texas and our battalion stepped to the front of the line and paraded the entire battleline, to the cheers of all the Confederate reenactors - hundreds. We could hear the Yankees cheering us too. It is one of the best of marching tunes, and it was absolutely Grand! | ||
